Rockfish Camp & Retreat Center has received a $5,000 grant from the Karen Parker Allen Memorial Endowment of the Cumberland Community Foundation, Inc., to enable children of cancer patients or those who have recently lost a parent to cancer to attend summer camp programming at no cost. These funds are available for Summer 2026 and the next four years.
The campership is available only to children who reside in Cumberland County to attend a one-week resident or day camp at Camp Rockfish. To request an application, please contact the Rockfish office at [email protected] or call 910-425-3529. Clergy and lay people are encouraged to share this information with families who can benefit from the program.
Ms. Parker, a Fayetteville native, died in 2016 after a multi-year battle with cancer. She and her husband raised 9 children together. Her family established the endowment at Cumberland Community Foundation in her memory to serve children and youth in Cumberland County impacted by the experience of living with parents with a cancer diagnosis.
