March 28th – April 3rd:
This week marks the beginning of the end. It is the end to the Lenten season, the end of our Lenten fast, of having to go without that one thing we gave up for lent, but it also celebrates the end of death and judgement.
This week, we observe three days that celebrate the sacrifice of Christ for our debt of sin. Maundy Thursday celebrates the last supper and the first communion. Friday is the day Christ died for all and Easter is when Christ arose from the dead.
The scripture from John is one of the most known scriptures of the Bible by believers. We throw it around all the time, wear it on t-shirts, hats, and post it on our social media account. But do we just throw this scripture around to show we are good Christians or do we actually believe the truth in these red letters?
Christ did not come to only save those who believed in him, but to transform them. Wesley described this as sanctification, moving to perfection. If we believe in Christ, but are not allowing him to transform us into his likeness, do we truly believe. Because Christ came to the world to save the imperfect and make them perfect. To take the unholy and make them holy.
So, as we celebrate Passion week, ask yourself these questions:
Do I believe that Christ died for me?
Have I invited him into my whole life, or only parts?
Am I allowing him to transform me?
Let Us Pray Together:
Dear Jesus, come into my heart and move in me the way you want to. May you transform me into who you are and less of who I am so that the world may see your love.
In Jesus name,
Amen
Joel
